My poems are for anyone who may be down on their luck, going through a storm – in need of some words of encouragement or just need to be uplifted. We never know who is going through what. So, some just grin and bear it, and try to do things for themselves. Some also don’t look like what they may have been through or may be going through; including myself. Our God is so awesome and amazing. He can change your life in the split of a second or a minute and turn things around for you. Some may need to hear that and need to know that they are not alone. My poems are to show what God can do for others, he can and will do for you.
My poems encourage you to never claim the devil. Always be strong when things seem to be hopeless, even when you think you can’t. I did a little rhyming to try and enhance them to be interesting, but more importantly, to get the point across about our God and how he will fix things in your life. Put God first and foremost in your life and he will show you continued favor. Sometimes that is easier said than done, but if it is God’s will, it surely will be done. Keep being faithful to him, believing in him, praising him, obey and be obedient to him, praying to him, and giving him the honor and the glory. And he will take you to a level that no man can touch. Just say to him “I give my hand and heart to you!!!” ~ Lynnette Shorts Kornegay
Testimony from the Author:
I am a fifty-two year old single mother of two, with a heart of gold. I show equal love to any and everyone around me. My life changed when I slipped and fell on ice at my job, and I found myself riding out the storm again. This time it was a little more difficult and challenging for me. I had two major surgeries in seven months. A knee replacement in September 2014 and back surgery in April 2015, all related to my fall. The pain I had to endure was so unbearable at times, but my God has kept me through it all. So, as I had to uplift, encourage and be strong for myself, I had to not just talk the talk, but now walk the walk.
I was a robbery victim in March of 2008 by two masked men at gunpoint on my way to work one morning at 6:00 a.m. That was a challenge for me for some time. I listened faithfully to Marvin Sapp's song “I Never Would Have Made It,” because that could have easily gone in another direction, and I would not be here. It was said by someone “I don't want to be a Victim, but an Over-comer.” I have accomplished that as well because I am an “Over-comer.”
I was my own inspiration with my God to put into words to encourage someone else. I am not a poet. I am just a child of God, trying to be faithful, obey and be obedient when he placed this vision upon me. Witnessing how people sometimes treat one another made writing this book of encouraging words easy to do, because I love everyone and treat people the same. I am the same yesterday, today and will be the same tomorrow. So I know my God taught me to fight and I pray that he keeps teaching you!!
